ADN Studio

ADN Studio

ADN Studio is a design studio based in Mexico City, created by Paulo Peña and Paulina Hassey, who after more than a decade devoted to Mexican Modernism and 20th century  design with ADN Galería, launched this new division focused entirely on contemporary design.

One of the most fascinating and intriguing aspects of historic design is: what is it about certain designs that makes them stand the test of time? What makes some design objects shine in contemporary spaces decades after they were conceived and created? Why some pieces of design are forgotten and some become collectible sought-after pieces?

ADN Studio is driven by the highest most ambitious aspiration: to create design pieces with character, identity and that will stand the test of time.

Our first project with ADN Studio is "AGAVE" Collection, beautiful, timeless textiles made entirely from the discarded fibers from the Mezcal Industry.

The Agave Collection grows from the idea of turning all these wasted fibers into textiles rugs. Trine Ellitsgaard, having profound knowledge of both the land of Oaxaca and the world of weaving, found a way to spin these fibers and weave with them to make fantastic pieces of design.

This project, a close collaboration between the Hermano Maguey program and Trine Ellitsgaard, has a special focus in the inclusion of women and elderly people from the indigenous Zapotec communities from Oaxaca involved in the production of each textile.

Each of these pieces is then part of a virtuous cycle of turning a problem into an opportunity, and turning waste into beautiful, timeless objects of design.

We are thrilled to be an integral part of these virtuous cycle.
